Stop and smell the roses

Here is a photo taken on my way to work from my car. I work in the pink building, second window from the left on the second floor right now. We are doing musical chairs again this fall.

Here is work. Most of the buildings of a yellow or peachy tone, and the pink one, are owned by my company. The reddish brown one in the foreground is Burmeisterska huset, the Burmeister house, which was a merchant's house built during the 1600's.

The weather was a bit on the cool side today, and overcast. I took my friskvårdstimme, one paid hour a week that we get to exercise or get a massage or something to keep employees healthy. I don't take the chance often enough. I was hungry though, so on my way I passed the main square and bought a wienerbröd at the grocery store, as pictured above. I then passed the cathedral, St. Mary's, seen in the background.

At the top of the church stairs, there were the usual flocks of tourists. Not so many, but a few Dutch, Germans, and Stockholmers.

The roses are in full bloom. The smell of them was heavy on the air, since it was so humid and quite windstill.

I took the chance to go up the new staircase they have built in one of the towers in the town wall. The wall was built in the 1200's, and once had walkways from tower to tower. They have now recreated one of these for tourists.

The view from the top of the wall and next tower to the east. There were once double trenches outside the walls.

The view to the southeast, the cathedral in the center.

Then I walked down to the beach outside the wall.

On my way back I stopped for lunch at Rosa's Trädgård. I was all alone in the courtyard with the bumblebees and chickadees.

This was my lunch - pie with ham and Gorgonzola.

It was so hazy the sky and water almost melted into one another.

After lunch I sat and watched the water for a while before heading back to work. The tower seen here is Kruttornet.
